Hier ein Suchbildrätsel: wo ist mo?

On my way to the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble, where we started an experiment today, I stopped by in Baden, Switzerland, and visited Dectris, manufacturer of great single photon counting pixel detectors like the Pilatus and the new Eiger. It was a great experience seeing their labs and workflow that lead to the leading detectors of that kind.

At night, I got some shots at Baden, see below for details.

Today we see some HDR photographs of the Max von Laue-Halle, as the formerly Gebäude 47c was baptised just recently by Mrs Merkel.

For John Miao's experiment at our set-up at PETRA III, we have to prepare a very clean x-ray beam.

Since a few days I'm in Hamburg for beamtime at PETRA III (DESY). Here a first small HDR photo, showing parts of our experimental set-up; more are to come!

In the last two months, I've been to Hamburg maybe six times. Right now we have a period of five beamtimes within four weeks (yepp, two are in parallel) at the PETRA III synchrotron. In the pre-beam phase we had the opportunity to set-up our instrument. In the following weeks, small but important changes will be described here. But that might need some time, since on Wednesday the marathon continues.

It's rather rainy today, we have missed only one talk yesterday and had the opportunity to get up earlier this morning. Now we are waiting for birds on the cam.
